Open Week 09
Cork Printmakers and Backwater Artists Group present their annual Open Week event from 11 – 18 November. This eight day event includes open studios, exhibitions, printmaking demonstrations & artists’ talks. Guided group tours will take place on weekdays. Below are details of the events.
FRIDAY 13 NOVEMBER
7pm: Plastic Heroes, an exhibition by Paul La Rocque in Cork Printmakers’ print showroom will open.
8pm: Claim, an exhibition by Éilis Ní Fhaoláin will open.
SATURDAY 14 NOVEMBER
12 noon: Opening reception with tea & cakes.
12 noon – 5pm: Backwater artists’ studios will be open to the public.
12pm – 5pm: Cork Printmakers’ print gallery will be open during these hours.
1pm – 3.05pm: Backwater artists’ will give short talks about their work.
1pm: Waterbased Photo Screen-printing demonstration with Marianne Keating.
2pm: Etching demonstration with Keith Kennedy.
3pm: Mono Screen-printing demonstration with Peter McMorris.
4.15pm: Artist Talk by Cork Printmaker member Sue Cunliffe.
Born in Preston, UK, Sue is a lecturer at the Crawford College of Art & Design. She exhibits throughout Ireland and abroad, recently showing in the Doswell Gallery, Rosscarbery. In 2009 she was a prizewinner in Impressions, Galway Arts Centre and the Wrexham International Print Exhibition, Wales. Her work is in many collections including U.C.C., Crawford Art Gallery and the RTE Print Collection.
SUNDAY 15 NOVEMBER
12 noon – 5pm: Backwater artists’ studios will be open to the public.
2pm – 5pm: Cork Printmakers’ print gallery will be open during these hours.
2pm: Relief printmaking demonstration with Dave Connolly.
3pm: Photo Screenprinting demonstration with Paul La Rocque.
3pm: Susanne Leutenegger’s exhibition carved-wakened-gathered will be opened.
4pm: How to identify a Print seminar with Clare Hennessy.
