OPEN WEEK 2008
Cork Printmakers and Backwater Artist Group will be opening their doors to visitors from 19 to 26 November. This eight day event includes open studios, exhibitions, printmaking demonstrations and artists’ talks. Guided tours are available throughout the week (except weekend).
On Saturday 22 November there will be an opening reception with tea and cakes at 12 noon followed by demonstrations in Photo Screenprinting (1pm), Relief Printing (2pm) and Lithography (3pm). Backwater Artists will give short talks about their work from 1pm - 4.05pm. Cork Printmakers' member Johnny Bugler will give a talk at 4.15pm in the ground floor print workshop. An exhibition of work by Backwater Artists Lisa Fingleton and Fiona Dowling will be on show at the weekend and then by appointment until 20 December. Cork Printmakers will host a group exhibition in the second floor printroom (except Sunday).
On Sunday 23 November there will be demonstrations in Etching (2pm), Screenprinting (3pm) and Mezzotint (4pm). Booking is essential for tours and print demonstrations as places are limited.

MEMBERS' EXHIBITIONS
Brian Barry at the Lismore Gallery, Co. Waterford
An exhibition entitled Cuba Obscura by Brian Barry will open on 18 November, at The Lismore Gallery and Photographic Studio in Lismore, Co. Waterford. It comprises of pinhole photography printed as photo etchings. The show runs until 4 January 2009. Further information from www.cubaobscura.com
Johnny Bugler & Aisling Dolan at The Factory Space, Dublin
The Factory Space is a new gallery based at 100 Capel Street in Dublin. 4 plus 1 is an exhibition by four printmakers and one mixed media artist. It features the work of Cork Printmaker members Johnny Bugler & Aisling Dolan and also Niamh Flanagan, Louise Meade and Joanne Kidney. Anna Ziarniewicz at the CIT Cork School of Music
As part of the Polish Cultural Festival taking place in Cork, an exhibition of black & white prints by Anna Ziarniewicz, will open at the CIT Cork School of Music on Sunday 9 November at 5pm. The show will run for two weeks until the 23 November.
Wendy Dison at the Liverpool Independents Biennial
Crossing Place is an exhibition of new paintings by Wendy Dison. This exhibition will take place at Blackburne House in Liverpool UK for the month of November, as part of Independents Biennial 08 and while Liverpool is European Capital of Culture. Crossing Place will open with a private view on 4 November with guest speakers Cairán Byrne, First Secretary at the Irish Embassy in London and Roger Phillips of BBC Radio Merseyside.
Wendy grew up in Liverpool and went to Art School there. These 19 paintings explore her response to the long connection between Ireland and Liverpool and its role as a crossing place in the wider Irish diaspora.
The exhibition is supported by Culture Ireland and Ainsley Gommon architects.
Jo Kelley in the Davy Portrait Award Exhibition
The Davy Portrait Awards exhibition runs at the Naughton Gallery, Belfast, in November, and tours to Farmleigh House, Dublin, in early 2009. A catalogue of works will be produced. Cork Printmakers' Member Jo Kelley was selected to be included in this exhibtion.

Christmas Showcase
Cork Printmakers Christmas Showcase, an exhibition of framed and unframed work, will take place from 6 - 13 December. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover an unique gift for someone special this Christmas. There will be a huge variety of prints to view in a broad range of styles, techniques, sizes and prices.
