Members Exhibitions and Events
Following her one-person show at the Original Print Gallery in Dublin earlier this summer Frieda Meaney is again showing work in two galleries in Dublin; Studio Members and Gallery Artists at Graphic Studio Gallery which ran from 19 June – 9 August and Summer Show at Lemon Street Gallery from 16 August to 16 September.
Six artist members of Cork Printmakers have been selected for Node, which will open at the Original Print Gallery from 11 September. The exhibition came about during a dialogue between print workshops regarding contemporary print practice in Ireland. The need to encourage greater interaction between Fine Art Print Studios and increase creative opportunities for Artist Members was highlighted. The National Print Network was formed which now includes eight print workshops based in Ireland, and the exhibition Node was initiated. Ray Henshaw, an artist based in Belfast selected the exhibition. Marianne Keating, Jo Kelley, Debbie Godsell, Ben Reilly and Sean Hanrahan were selected from Cork Printmakers to exhibit in Node.
In this month’s Cork Now, writer and artist Linda Cookson, writes about the work of Valerie Gleeson in the article titled, Finding inspiration in places both far-flung and closer to home. See page 56 of the August edition of Cork Now. Valerie Gleeson, and another Cork Printmakers' member, Angela Fewer will be exhibiting at the Cork School of Music later in the autumn, details will follow in September's NEWS page.
