Sean Hanrahan
Sean Hanrahan was born in England in 1969. He moved to Ireland with his Irish parents in 1972 and grew up in Co. Clare. He graduated as a mature student with a B.A Degree in Fine Art (Printmaking) from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2005. He moved to Cork City and became a member of Cork Printmakers. He is currently studying Community Arts at the Crawford College of Art and Design.
His exhibitions include Node, a National Print Studio Network exhibition, Original Print Gallery, Dublin (2008); Charles Tyrrell Selects for Kinsale Arts Week (2008); Open Submission exhibition, Limerick Printmakers (2007 and 2008): 10 X 10: Identity in Contemporary Ireland, Queens Festival, Belfast and Lavitt Gallery, Cork (2007/2008); Prints from Ireland, Horace Mann Gallery, New York and Donkey Mill Art Centre, Hawaii (2007/2008). Sean was selected as the commissioned artist for the 55th Cork International Choral Festival (2009), he created a limited edition of prints, which were the awarded to the winners of the national competitions. His work is represented in private collections nationally.
My print studio practice is continually evolving with its emphasis being based on experimentation. I'm not interested in creating a sole visual language or style, my interest is in creating works that are informed by current / past influences which are executed in turn by technical possibilities.
